2.The search for Amelia Earhart: An Overview. TIGHAR THE EARHART PROJECT.
The very first theory about what happened to Amelia was conjured by the captain of the coast Guard cutter Itasca which was waiting for her at Howland Island. Commandar Warner k.Thompson decided that she probably ran out of gas shortly after contact was lost and that she had gone down at sea somewhere to the Northwest. He went and looked but found nothing. The other major theory about what happened is that when Amelia could not find Howland, she turned her plane north and ended up in the Marshall Islands then held by the Japanese. It was there they say she was held as a prisoner of by war by Japanese and eventually met her death. Apr 2, 2007.

4.Pioneering Woman Aviator, Lost on Flight over the Pacific.
She became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic on June 18-19, 1928. The flight was the brainchild of Amy Guest, a wealthy, aristocratic American expatriate living in London. Aware of the huge publicity that would accrue to the first woman to fly the Atlantic, the 55 year old Mrs. Guest had purchased a Fokker F7 trimotor from Commander Richard Byrd, to make the flight herself. Her family objected, and she relented, as long as the "right sort" of woman could make the flight. The "right sort" would take a good picture, be well-educated, and not be a publicity-seeking gold-digger. The Guest family hired George Putnam, a New York publicist who had promoted Lindbergh's book We, to look for a suitable women pilot. He selected the little-known Amelia Earhart, and introduced her as "Lady Lindy". Copyright 2008, by Acepilots.com. All rights reserved.

5.Pioneering Woman Aviator, Lost on Flight over the Pacific.
Her last flightIn 1937 Amelia Earhart attempted an around-the-world flight. Flying a custom-built Lockheed Model 10E Electra, equipped with extra-large gas tanks, shewould follow a'close to the Equator' route, thus going one better than Wiley Post's northern, mid-latitude route route. In her first effort, in March of 1937, she flew west, but a crash in Hawaii abrubtly ended that trip.Copyright 2008, by Acepilots.com. All rights reserved.

Amelia Earhart's Last Flight.Unknown.
Conspiracy Theories AppearShortly after the end of the war Jacqueline Cochran, a pilot and friend of Earhart, traveled to Japan to investigate the role of Japanese women in the hostilities. While there she claimed she'd discovered several files on Earhart which later disappeared. Later, in 1965, retired Air Force Major Joseph Gervias came to the conclusion that Cochran had actually discovered Earhart herself and smuggled her back into the U.S.. There Earhart set up residence in New Jersey under a new name. The woman he named as Earhart denied Gervias' assertions.

THESIS STATEMENT/ THIRD ANNOTATION

There are many different theories on why Amelia Earhart disappeared over the Pacific ocean... but me and my partner are going to figure out which theory sounds more reasonable.

Many people from 1939-through today are still pointing out their views on how they think Amelia Earhart disappeared... What my partner and I are going to find out which theory sounds more realistic or in which the U.S.A was going through at that time to see if it links back or has something to do with Amelia's disappearance.

The disappearance of Amelia Earhart

I Choose Amelia Earhart for my NHD Project because I am interested in knowing the facts, or opinions on why the Government, friends and or family thinks why Amelia Earhart had disappeared.
This person is important to history because her story is the greatest mystery known to man. Her disappearance was never proven to be right because all stories were theories never any facts. Life would had been different without Amelia Earhart because if she never was the first women to fly things might have been different. How? Maybe because women would had have an harder time becoming an women aviator

service learning comments

I was frustrated when nothing would happening. Like nothings getting done yet. I think that we need to start getting the people who is in charge of contacting the Constitution Center to find out if we are allowed to plant our flowers there. I'm starting to look up how much the flower pots would cost if need the big kind. And to see how much the dirt would cost to see how many pounds of dirt would be needed and if I know how big the pots are going to be then i can find out how much dirt we would need and then how many bags of dirt he would need.

DEBATE 5/22/08

TO DAY KATEY AND SHARDE WENT AGAISNT EACH OTHER IN DEBATING ON WHETHER SLAVERY SHOULD BE ABOLISHED OR NOT.

KATEY DID GOOD COUKD HAD WON IF SHE WOULD HAD ATTACKED SHARDE'S ARGUMENT BETTER WHEN DOING CROSS EXAMINATION. BUT OVER ALL I THINK THAT KATE DID GOOD I VOTED FOR HER BUT SHARDE WON BECAUSE SHE HAD MORE EVIDENCE THEN SHE DID.

LATER ON MARCUS AND AMBER WENT UP AND EVERY ONE THOUGHT THAT AMBER WAS GOING TO WIN BUT SHE DIDN'T BECAUSE SHE WAS TO NERVOUS IT GOT IN HER WAY IN HER ASKING GOOD QUESTIONS AND STUMBLE WHILE READING HER INTRO. MARCUS WAS GOOD HE COULD HAD DONE SOME MORE OF ASKING DIFFERENT QUESTIONS BUT THE ONE HE WAS ASKING HER WAS GOOD BECAUSE SHE KEPT BEATING AROUND THE BUSH. BUT OVER ALL SHE WAS GOOD AND SO WAS MARCUS.

It states that in the article that in Apirl a new poll revealed that 81 percent of the American people believe that the country is on the "wrong track". In the 25 years that pollsters have asled this question, last month's response was by far the most negative. It is also stated that the war in Iraq and the on going threat of terrorism. But the facts on the ground-unemployment numbers foreclosure  rates, deaths from terror attacks- are simply not dire enough to explain to present atomosphere of malaise. I figure that meaning that it is just making things even worse bring on terror attacks, and that lives are being taking away.
I wasn't here during last weeks service learning but i guess it went all right.

last week's reflections on service learning

Last week while we were stuck inside the building because it was raining. So we were talking about what we are going to do like for the pots we are going to buy how much will it cost? How much dirt we are  going to use and how much that is going to cost. Talking what people's roles were and how and where are we going to find the money to do all of this? Also where are going to put it?

my reflection on thursday community service meeting.

Yesterday wasn't so bad. We went outside of the school to see if we could find a spot to place benches outside for our school to maybe eat lunch out there. We were also thinking about putting some pick nick tables out so we can eat our lunch out there, but were going to get tables that people cant steal of course. While for inside the school we were thinking about putting a pictures in the lunch room so people can see the first graduating class and see the second graduating class and maybe the next pervious graduating classes. Plus we were thinking about getting a teen loung to hang out at at lunch I guess, and were also thinking about getting some game machines to play during our spare time before we go o class. We are also thinking about organizing out some plans so we could afford to pay for all of those things for school. For the most part I sort of liked it, it was better than the last one we actually did something instead of just writing down some notes we walked around and looked at some of the rooms that we might be doing our work in. On a scale of one to 10 i give us a 8 1/2.

one topic that relates back to our topic Gardening and Beautification.

All topics relates back to our topic because it all has something to do with helping people or helping the outside community and for a good cause.

Reflection on Friday's meeting.

Three positive things that happened was people had good ideas, mentors were listening to what students had to say, and when kids were giving ideas it was something that we actually could do not something that they know might not happen.

Three things that we need to improve in is one: listening.
two:not talking so much when they know its not their turn to talk.
three:i didn't want to be separated because people were talking and we had to do
two different subjects one was beautification in the school, an the other one was the gardening.

community service

Over my spring break I did some community service it only took me two days to complete 15 hours. I worked for free at a daycare center helping basically everyone or anyone who needed help. I worked with some babies, helped out kids who were doing Easter egg hunt I placed out the eggs so that can find it. And the next day I did the same thing I worked on bulletin boards and made it look springing and everything. It was kind of fun but I was mad that I had to get up early.

Reflection paper

Friends the first school for blacks. My partner Elizabeth and I were working the first public school for blacks. We did a exhibit on the Philadelphia Quakers and their accomplishments. Some of the things that we learned were that Germantown friend’s school were the first school for black kids who couldn’t afford it meaning the first public school. The successes that we learned was that a lot of famous and important people were involved in building the school. Some of the challenges that we faced were that there weren’t a lot of information the Quakers that related to our topic. Meaning we were trying to find out when the school was built and who build it. There were a lot of things that didn’t relate like for one some of our sources didn’t even help us cause it had nothing to do with our topic. The changes that I would do next to say if I was going to do a board I would try to find my general topic fast as I could then see what is going to be broken up and then start looking up some my sources that it could still be some help to me during the process of getting things organized out.

Dear Mr. Romero

January 22,2008

Dear Mr. Romero

I think that the grade I should get is probably between an A and a B. Why? Because. The work that is given to I always complete it either correctly or not but. I always hand my work in on time. Another reason is I do pretty well in your classroom. My last reason is I am an overall good student in and out of your classroom.

My first reason why I should get this grade is all my work is given to you on time. Weather it is complete or done or given to you correctly it is always given on time. My work may not be the best work but I always give it my best. To me I believe that is important, that is basically what school is about not getting every thing right but getting it wring then the answer would come to you later and learn form your mistakes.

Second I think that I should get this grade because not only do I get my work done I do good in your classroom. When I sometimes talk and you ask me to be quiet I don’t give you any back talk no speech nothing I stop right then and there. Although I shouldn’t be doing that in the first place I still stop and get back too work. When I do talk I still do so while doing my work. So its not like I ‘m not getting any work done.

Last but not least I should get the grade between an A or
B because I am overall good student. Meaning that when
were in or out of the classroom I am still an respectful student.
For example when we go on a trip and maybe Im in your
group I still follow the rules. Another example is when our
class go on a walking trip I follow the rules and I follow
yours. One last reason is when you need something from me
it is usally always given because that is who I am.

Inconclusion is the grade I think that I should get an
grade between A and B. My first reason is because the
work that is given to me is given back to you complete and
sometimes done correctly. Another reason is pretty well in
your classroom. My last reason I am an overall good
student in or out of class.
Sincerely your student
Rodsheea Thomas
P.S I deserve any grade you give me.

Margaret Abigail Walker

1/10/08 Rodsheea Thomas

MARGARET ABIGAIL WALKER

Most people may have heard of Margaret Walker most do not know the history behind her and what has caused us a change in the better. Margaret Abigail Walker was born July 6, 1915 in Birmingham, Alabama (1915-1998). Walker said that she grew up in a talking family. At a young age she grew very interested in her peoples history. Walker went to Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. When she graduated she went to Chicago, where Walker worked for the Federal Writers Project.

While working at Federal Writers’ Project. She worked her way up to the literary circle. After working there for four years, Walker left (W.F.P)
to go to the university of Iowa to purpose graduate study.

One of the poems in her first volume of poetry, for my people (1942), was her maters thesis. That poem right there won Margaret Walker the YALE YOUNGER POETS SERIES AWARD. FOR MY PEOPLE HAD ORIGNALLY APPEARED IN POERTY MAGAZINE, IN 1937. “No African American writer had yet produced poetry like this.” Not only was expressed in racial consciousness and protest, but also in its style.

Another one of her well-known work is Jubilee. It was about a slave family, and was based on the stories that Walker had heard about from her grandmother. That right their also made Margaret well known for her work.

As the years went by her people in different way. It was as mentioned written in a style that express the racial consciousness. When Walker had passed away more people seemed to take interest in talking about their heritages background. It also made people express themselves by telling the truth and being afraid if the Man was going to get them down for freedom of speech.

Parents should be allowed to hit their child.

12/19/07 Rodsheea Thomas

Should parents be allowed to hit their child?

I think parents should hit their child, but do you agree? Well I do because it sets them straight. It helps them with their behavior. Last self-respect and for others.

Parents should hit their child. Why? To set them straight. Let them know who call the shots. Not saying that they should hit them all the time. Just to put them back in their place. For example: When your child get out of hand put them back in order.

Another reason why parents should hit their child is. Behavior. Sometimes you have to let your child be a good person and sometimes hitting them gives them a taste of reality. Besides its not like their child is being beaten. It’s just a little slap or two. Hitting your child let them know that a thing that they do or are thinking of is wrong. Or maybe right but said at the wrong time.

One last reason why a child should be hit by their parent is. Self-respect and for others. Giving them a taste of their own medicine. How? They hurt you when they act out showing people like you didn’t raise them right. So words wont scare them when you cuss them out but your fist would. Not trying to be verbally and physically mean. But it is true. Now of days kids are not that affected of words. Sometimes you need to put your hand on them and your point across.

To bring things to wrap parents should be allowed to hit their child. Why? For one. To set your child straight. It helps them with their behavior. Last self-respect and for others. Again not saying that you should beat your child. Just a slap or two. As a parent and maybe as a child do you think that it is fair for a parent to hit their child still? I know I do.
